The company
Hertz, Trainings for Scientists, based in Amstelveen, has for many years been a renowned agency specializing in education and training for PhD students and executives within academia. Under the leadership of founder Brigitte Hertz, the agency grew to become a trusted partner of universities and research institutions throughout the Netherlands.
The buyer
As of July 1, 2025, all assets of the agency were transferred to Marieke Hohnen's new limited liability company. She had been associated with the agency as a trainer for some time and knew both the programs and the clientele well. This made her a logical and suitable successor. The transfer included the goodwill, all training materials, trade name, domain names, customer base and existing contracts with clients.
Role of Next Steps
Next Steps guided Brigitte Hertz throughout the process. After an initial external candidate eventually dropped out, we jointly conducted the interviews with Marieke Hohnen. We assisted in working out the terms and conditions, the valuation, the creation of the Term Sheet, the Letter of Intent, the due diligence and the drafting of the final purchase agreement.
Result
With the transfer on July 1, 2025, the continuity of the agency is guaranteed. Marieke will take over the daily management and continue the existing activities, while Brigitte will remain involved as trainer and developer of new programs. For clients and collaborating trainers, this means a smooth transition and the assurance of trusted quality.
